Home Remedies for Hemorrhoid Relief

Hemorrhoids can be a painful and embarrassing experience, but home remedies for hemorrhoid relief can help relieve the pain, itching, and burning that associate them.

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in or around the rectum that can cause pain, itching, burning, and sometimes bleeding.

There are two types, internal and external. Internal hemorrhoids are generally painless, occurring inside the rectum. There may be some bleeding associated.

External hemorrhoids occur outside the rectum, and can become very swollen and painful. Bleeding occurs often as the tissue is very fragile. Sitting, wiping and straining for a bowel movement may cause bleeding.

What causes hemorrhoids?

Constipation- Chronic constipation can cause them. Having to strain for a bowel movement over and over, puts pressure and causes the blood vessels to swell.

Prolonged sitting- If your job requires you to sit a lot, learn to take a 5 minute walk every hour or so. This will relieve pressure in the rectal area.

Lifting weights- Avoid the squatting position. This also puts pressure in the rectal area.
